Chinmayo (Christine) Forro, CDM, was born and raised with four other siblings in Belgian Congo - Africa - where her father was a
medical doctor and her mother a musician. At a very young age, she
was involved with and began developing a curiosity for childbirth.
After experiencing many cultures around the world, amongst others,
Brazil, where she arrived in 1971 as a diplomat, and lived for 15 years,
Chinmayo's calling to midwifery started while volunteering as a labor
companion at San Francisco General Hospital. Before graduating in El
Paso, Texas in 1992, she studied and apprenticed with experienced
nurse midwives and direct entry midwives. She then moved to
Anchorage, Alaska where she became licensed in 1994, and has had a
homebirth practice in Anchorage ever since.
When she became aware, through pre and perinatal psychology, how
the trauma of birth has lifelong effects imprinted in our memories,
she has been committed to facilitate gentle birth choices for
childbearing families.
Chinmayo is also a Childbirth Educator, Aquanatal Instructor, Esalen Certified Massage Practioner, as well as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP Practioner (Esalen Institute). Her specialty is Hypnotic Anaesthesiology. She speaks French, English and portuguese fluently, and is reasonable with Spanish.
