Our midwifery services include:

  • Initial consultation, free of charge
  • Complete OB lab work up (on site blood drawn)
  • Ordering ultrasounds as needed
  • Herbs, homeopathy and aromatherapy
  • Lending library and videos
  • Home delivery
  • Postpartum care for six weeks, contraceptive
       counseling and papsmear

    • Our services are billed to Insurances, Medicaid and Denali Kid Care.
    Sliding scale fees are available for clients paying out of pocket.

    Initial Visit
    The first visit lasts a little longer (1 1/2 hour) since we take a complete medical history and rule out risks, take blood, urine, Chlamydia and GC cultures, talk extensively about nutritrion and review important information.

    Subsequent Prenatal Visits
    We have the time and we listen. Each visit lasts at least one hour. We will see you once a month until 28 weeks, then twice a month until 36 weeks. At 36 weeks we will see you weekly until the delivery of your baby. Routine prenatal visits include vitals on mom and baby, determine fetal position, presentation and growth, emotional and physical changes and challenges, review of nutrition. Consultations and referrals are made when findings are not within the accepted range of normal.

    Home Delivery and Support
    We honor the mother’s choice for delivery, including waterbirth, and facilitate the normal birth process with herbs, massage, and many time honored wise women techniques, monitor the baby closely with a Doppler, and the mother as well.
    Two midwives are present at the delivery. Both midwives carry oxygen, resuscitation equipment, medications and IV setups, and are trained in advanced neonatal resuscitation, should the need rise. When transport is indicated, midwives will stay with the family until the delivery at the hospital is complete.

    Postpartum Care
    We monitor mother and newborn for a minimum of 3 hours after delivery and perform a complete newborn exam. We return daily for the first 5 days, perform PKU screening on the baby and offer breastfeeding support. Follow up visits at the office are at 2, 4 and 6 weeks, with papsmear and contraceptive counseling.
    Baby Massage
    Studies have shown how infant massage is highly beneficial to the newborn. Our babies get a newborn massage at 24 hours postpartum and the family is shown how to carry on this very special ritual.
